Carpenter charged after allegedly using relative’s money to build house
KINGSTON, Jamaica – A St James carpenter has been charged with fraudulent conversion after allegedly spending money entrusted to him by a relative.
Jordan Ricketts, 30, was reportedly entrusted with US$10,000 between July and August 2024, and asked to safeguard the money for the complainant and his wife to use while vacationing in Jamaica.
However, upon the relative’s return to Jamaica in April 2026, he requested the funds from Ricketts, who was unable to repay the money.
Further investigations allegedly revealed that Ricketts had used the funds for personal expenses and to construct a one-bedroom house in St James.
A report was made to the police, and Ricketts turned himself in and was subsequently charged.
His court date is being finalised.
