Bronny James declares for NBA Draft, enters transfer portal after 1 season at USC
UNITED STATES — Lebron James’ son, Bronny James, is set to move on from the University of South California (USC) next season as he announced he will be entering the 2024 NBA Draft.
According to an article from Yahoo Sports, the eldest son of the Los Angeles Lakers star made the announcement on Friday. It is reported that the junior James is expected to also maintain his college eligibility, entering the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) transfer portal after a single season with the Trojans.
James will reportedly “work out for and visit NBA teams and make a draft decision based on evaluation.”
James’ freshman season at USC was delayed after he suffered cardiac arrest during a pre-season workout. The latter led to the diagnosis of a congenital heart defect. As a result of his medical condition, various international news media outlets say James will need to be evaluated and approved by the NBA’s Fitness to Play Panel before he can become eligible to participate in team workouts, the draft combine in May or be selected in the draft.
