Iyara and Pamputtae join forces for ‘Caney’

After celebrating the achievements of the unrecognised on his most recent single G.O.A.T. Get Weh, dancehall artiste Iyara aims to turn up the heat with his newest release, a collaboration with Pamputtae titled Caney.

“Collaborating with Pamputtae was such a great vibe. We weren’t actually in the same studio, but we shared our ideas via phone and the magic worked,” Iyara explained.

A joint production between Bellevue Entertainment and Tru Productions, Caney and its official video were released last Friday.

“A part of the video was shot in Jamaica, while other scenes were shot in the US. But if it wasn’t for our honesty, we could say it was all shot in Jamaica because we tried our best to keep our Caribbean flavour and vibe. The video was directed by Tony-Ra and Kingpride Productions,” said Iyara.

This is not Iyara’s first time collaborating with a female artiste.

“In the early stages of my career I worked with a few female artistes. But I’ve always loved Pamputae’s original dancehall style, so I decided to do a song with her. The idea of the song came to me from other females, who have been calling me (caney) maybe because of my height and most girls love tall men. Pamputtae was the perfect fit for the song,” Iyara said.

Pamputtae was just as excited about working with Iyara.

“Iyara reached out to me via WhatsApp and told me about the project and the concept that he had in mind. I liked the idea the moment he mentioned it and he’s also a talented artist so I decided to run with it,” said Pamputtae.

She added, “The chemistry was good working on the track though we didn’t link up in the studio and voice together. He did his part and sent it to me and I did my part, but the chemistry was there as we communicated back and forth throughout the session.”
