Traffic restrictions for Cumberland main road in Portmore
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising that traffic restrictions will be in effect for two days along the Cumberland Boulevard main road in Portmore, St Catherine for rehabilitation work under the multi-million-dollar Grange Lane Improvement Project.
Manager, Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw said that starting on Thursday, May 16, some 150 metres of the road will be impacted.
The NWA said contractors working on the project will continue the process of laying stormwater drainage along the corridor. These works are expected to be completed on Saturday, May 17.
The Grange Lane Project is being implemented at a cost of $925 million and is expected to be completed in September of this year.
Shaw said that among the works to be done are the erection of bus bays, sidewalk installation, widening of the road from two to four lanes, laying of new waterlines and installation of traffic signals.
Road users are being advised to exercise caution over the next three days as they navigate the Cumberland Boulevard main road. They are being advised to obey posted warning signs and the instructions of flag-persons.
