Honey Bun provides more sweet treats for nurses
WHILE this year International Nurses Day shared space with Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 12, on Monday nurses took the spotlight in the annual ‘Donuts for Nurses’ treat conducted by Honey Bun Limited.
The initiative, which sees the baking company delivering freshly baked donuts to nurses across the island weekly for six weeks, beginning on International Nurses Day, started during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 when the health-care sector was put under extreme strain.
Honey Bun has continued the initiative to thank these essential workers for their service to the nation.
For this the fifth year, Donuts for Nurses was expanded from 30 to 40 health centres, clinics and hospitals across the island.
“It has become a proud tradition for us to show our heartfelt gratitude to our nurses through this initiative. For five years, we have had the privilege and honour of expressing our appreciation to the backbone of our health-care system — our nurses.
“This year, we will be making donations to approximately 40 health-care departments and hospitals across the island, bringing a little sweetness to their days,” said Loriann Tater, marketing manager at Honey Bun.
The annual treat was welcomed by newly elected president of the Nurses Association Dawn-Marie Richards.
“It is something the nurses really look forward to, as it does make a difference in their morning and their days, and they miss it when it’s over,” said Richards, as she thanked Honey Bun for always looking out for the nurses.
