Labour Day activities get underway across Jamaica
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaicans were out in their numbers as activities got underway on Thursday in observation of Labour Day 2024.
Labour Day 2024 is being observed under the theme ‘Ramp up the access… Show that you care’, with a focus on people with disabilities, the elderly and the vulnerable.
In Portland, community members were hard at work on two key projects — building a ramp at the Portland Infirmary and renovating the community centre in Poinciana Park, Fairy Hill.
Meanwhile, the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) was hard at work cleaning drains along East Street.

Elsewhere, staff members of the Institute of Jamaica rolled up their sleeves to give their building a fresh new look as part of their Labour Day activities.
Teams were busy painting the building and a section of a new ramp, while Tevaughn Keys of Najobriks Construction laid bricks on the compound.
