WellGood Products: Better and Smarter Eating

Our story

It took a chance meeting on an unplanned flight to unite two dynamic forces.

Kamila McDonald and Sarah Myers are passionate about creating healthy and tasty plant-based foods.

We, like many others, faced health issues that started with our food and decided to join hands to produce delicious dairy-free, plant-based alternatives, packaged foods and hearty snacks for the Caribbean.

Dynamic, delicious and on-trend, our products are packed with maximum nutrition, free of artificial ingredients and fillers that passed the taste test of foodies in Jamaica, Los Angeles, Florida, New York and New Jersey.

Our philosophy of better and smarter eating is more than just one of the latest food fads, it’s the very foundation of our high standards in offering wholesome premium quality products customers will love!

Foods that are nutritious, flavourful and sustainable

There is a need for dairy-free alternatives using wholesome ingredients mostly found right here in Jamaica.

There is a myth that plant-based foods are inadequate, not enjoyable and not satisfying…we defy that.

People with dietary restrictions have a hard time finding what they need in the supermarket.

Our unique blend of ingredients and out-of-the-box culinary creations impart a flavourful alternative to the market standard. Most of the popular imported plant-based substitutes are made with cheap, imitation ingredients manufactured in high-emission environments.

Solving the problem: We elevate and innovate

Our company is pioneering the delivery of dairy-free, plant-forward foods that taste good, are better for you, and are always on trend.

We are offering better options for meat and dairy alternatives to satisfy the growing flexitarian, vegetarian and vegan markets.

We will reduce our impact on Mother Earth through sustainable practices.

Tastes great

Nutritious and satisfying

Teaming with local producers and suppliers

Kamila McDonald

Founder and CEO of The Well Fit Club, an online wellness and fitness club dedicated to a holistic approach to lifestyle change. She is a certified integrative nutrition health coach and personal trainer. McDonald is an established wellness and fitness leader and influencer in Jamaica and the Jamaican Diaspora as well as a lifestyle-change and cookbook author. In 2022 she co-established Kamila’s Kitchen, a plant-based restaurant perched at the top of Reggae Mountain in Kingston, and just recently opened her second location at popular food complex The Market Place in the heart of the city where her healthy bites can be more accessible.

Sarah Myers

An activist/entrepreneur and founder of JamWest Foods in 2007, a manufacturing facility and incubator in Los Angeles. She has mentored multiple successful brands still thriving in the marketplace today. With her trend- spotting ability, tech-savvy food knowledge and years in the food industry, she brings essential skills needed for our success and growth.

Competitors

There are no cheese or dairy alternatives made in Jamaica currently in the supermarkets. There is no competition in food service (suppliers for hotels and restaurants). Our manufacturing facility fills a need, not only supporting our production, it will co-pack and provide services for product development and incubating small like-minded businesses across the island.

Within 12 months, we will be present in these supermarkets:

Hi-Lo Food Stores

Select Grocers

Loshusan

MegaMart Wholesale Club

Our challenges

1. Move equipment from California to Jamaica.

2. Set up a production facility.

3. Finalise branding packaging and marketing.

4. Grow customer base D to C, B to B.

5. Source ingredients not available locally.

6. Encourage local farmers to produce our core ingredients for us.

One-year goals

1. Production scaling

Scientific Research Council will process 150 gallons of plant milk to produce 1,500 lbs of Chz in 7 hrs.

The equivalent of 3,000/7oz packages of hard Chz and 188 lbs of shredded Chz.

In-house at Kamila’s Kitchen, produce 10 gallons of yogurt in 2 hrs and 8 hrs of fermentation equivalent to 213 8oz cups of yogurt.

2. Current gross margin

D To C = 65 per cent

B To B = 50-60 per cent

Five-year goals

1. Achieving nationwide distribution of our products.

2. Expanding our product offerings to supply the unmet demand of healthy plant-based alternatives in Jamaica and throughout the Caribbean.

3. Export to the USA, UK and Canada competing with other successful global plant-based brands.

4. Launching our non-profit organisation aimed at educating Jamaica and the wider Caribbean about the impact our food choices make on the overall quality of our lives.

5. Becoming a leader in manufacturing practices that lessen our impact on the environment.
