Upon entering Sora Japanese, I was immediately struck by the modern and inviting décor. A feature wall is adorned with striking mural depicting a Japanese geisha, and the soft lighting creates a cosy and relaxing atmosphere. The seating is comfortable, with a mix of booths and tables, and there is also outdoor seating with a bar and views of both the bustling city and the Blue Mountains.

Our dining experience commenced with a dragon roll, which had perfectly crispy shrimp inside and was topped with avocado, spicy mayo and eel sauce. For the main course, I had Yaki Udon. This dish of stir-fried noodles mixed with vegetables, shrimp and pork did not disappoint. According to my server, “It gets the most forward.” My lunch partner opted for the Teriyaki Chicken Lunch Bento Box which was served with a miso soup, mini salad, and Japanese rice.

Sora offers excellent value for money, with generous portion sizes and high-quality ingredients. The highlight of our lunch was the Yaki Udon Noodles, which were served piping-hot, and the portion size was generous enough to share for two. The service at Sora was exceptional. Our waiter was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. She was knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations. Our orders were taken promptly, and the food arrived in a timely manner.

I highly recommend Sora for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Japanese cuisine in a warm and welcoming setting. With its delicious food, attentive service, and charming ambiance, it’s a great spot for both casual lunch and a Friday out on the town.
