Kim Jong Un reportedly executes 30 officials after floods kill thousands
NORTH KOREA – Kim Jong Un reportedly executed 30 officials in August for their alleged failure to mitigate the devastation caused by floods and landslides in North Korea.
According to the UK’s media outlet, The Independent, catastrophic flooding hit the Chagang province in North Korea in July, killing more than 4,000 people and displacing some 15,000 more.
According to the article, the officials who were reportedly executed were charged with corruption and dereliction of duty. The news report further outlined that North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong Un ordered authorities to “strictly punish” the officials responsible for the damage.
Media in North Korea have yet to confirm or deny the supposed executions.
