ST JAMES, Jamaica— The St James Police have charged a man with murder after he allegedly shot and killed a shop operator in New Road, Flanker in the parish on Saturday, April 27.

Dead is 28-year-old Randy McNeil, of Providence Heights, Flanker in St James.

Charged with McNeil’s murder is 30-year-old Joseph McKenzie otherwise called ‘Geo’, of Second Avenue in Flanker.

McKenzie is also charged with using a firearm to commit a felony and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Reports are that about 11:15 am, McNeil was walking on the roadway, when he was pounced upon by McKenzie who was armed with a gun. McKenize then reportedly shot McNeil several times.

The police were alerted and McNeil was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Following an investigation into the incident, McKenzie was arrested about 9:00 pm on Sunday August 25, at Harvey Beach, St James.

He was subsequently charged after he underwent a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.

His court date has not been finalised.
