Desert of Malibu, Is That A Fact set for titanic clash in None Such Sprint Trophy
The None Such Sprint Trophy, a prestigious Graded Stakes/Open Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs (1,200m), takes centre stage on tomorrow’s nine-race programme at Caymanas Park.
Seven talented runners have declared for the race, which promises to be an electrifying showdown between two American-bred runners, Desert of Malibu and Is That A Fact.
Below, The Supreme Racing Guide takes a closer look at each runner and their chances of winning the major share of the $1.75-million purse.
1. DESERT OF MALIBU (USA): (5 ch m by Malibu Moon — Lady Digger) — Returns to competitive racing after a five-month break, boasting an impressive record of seven wins from nine starts on local soil. Despite being disqualified twice with one reinstated,
Desert of Malibu has shown remarkable form, including a win over tomorrow’s distance. She has been training well and is poised to make a big statement in her comeback race.
2. INSPIRE FORCE (USA): (4 ch c by Union Jackson — Exotic Design) — Has failed to impress in his two starts in this class and is not expected to contend. He lacks the experience and form to challenge the top runners.
3. IS THAT A FACT (USA): (4 b c by Palace Malice — Valid Code) — Enters the race in top form, with four wins and four second-place finishes from eight starts this season. His recent five-length victory on July 13 demonstrates his exceptional ability, and he is expected to perform well despite carrying top weight of 57.0ks (126 lb). Is That A Fact’s training has been impressive, and he is a strong contender.
4. JUSTIN BIDEN: (5 ch g by Lion Tamer — Wagon Wheel) — Faces a tough task and is unlikely to win. He lacks the speed and form to challenge the top runners.
5. FEARLESS SOUL: (4 ch c by Soul Warrior — Rumble) — Did well by reaching this class but will struggle to keep up. Fearless Soul needs to improve his form to contend.
6. WALL STREET TRADER (USA): (5 dk b/br g by Vancouver — Selva) — Consistently performs well on local soil, with three wins and two second-place finishes from six starts. Although this is his toughest assignment, he is expected to do well without winning. He has shown remarkable consistency and will be a contender.
7. MADELYN’S SUNSHINE (USA): (5 dk b/br m by Joe’s Son Joey — Madelyn’s Finest) — Ran a decent race on August 10 and will appreciate the reduced distance, making her presence felt in the race. She has shown promise and will be a dark horse contender.
