1Ski Mask joins roster at Epic Records

Recording artiste 1Ski Mask signed a deal with Epic Records in October.

The former social media comedian and actor, who was known as Valodomore, told the Jamaica Observer on Monday that negotiations with the label took place over a one-year period.

“This opportunity signifies greatness. It just show say people recognise the talent, and I continue to put in the work. You never know who may be watching,” 1Ski Mask told the Jamaica Observer.

He explained how the link came about with the label.

“Dem reach out to mi directly through social media when the song Darkniss did buss. We been in talks over a year now. Mi end up mek Weekday (producer) and the lawyer deal with everything,” said 1Ski Mask.

The deejay said his family is happy for the opportunity that has come his way.

“You know, naturally, is always the ones who close to you ago always show the most love. Dem always wish me well and dem happy same way. Dem glad fi mi,” said 1Ski Mask.

Vice-president of artiste and repertoire (A&R) at Epic Records Tyshawn “Fly Ty” Johnson signed 1Ski Mask to the label through his Against Da Grain Entertainment label.

Previously, Jamaicans Shabba Ranks, Patra, Jovi Rockwell, and Tina (formerly known as Hood Celebrityy) were signed to Epic Records.

1Skimask, whose real name is Rivaldo Lyle, hails from a small community in Manchester called Victoria Town. He attended Vere Technical High School in Clarendon, where he studied engineering.
