Kryptic Live makes his mark
Following a successful 2024, in-demand DJ Kryptic Live is gearing up for a fruitful new year having secured several international gigs already.
“We have a lot in store for 2025, especially after just having a really good 2024. This year, I’m definitely looking forward to taking things to a new level with my brand, and moving out my comfort zone a bit more. We already have a few international engagements already confirmed in North America. I’ll also be in the UK and Cayman very, very soon for a few shows. Other than that, we’ll be launching WrldWxde II this year, so supporters can also look out for that as well,” the 22-year-old told the Jamaica Observer.
The talented youngster, whose given name is Isaac Picking, has been in the industry for approximately five years.
“When I was growing up, I never really knew what exactly I wanted to do with my skills until I moved to Bull Bay in 2014. My neighbour at the time was Uncle Ronnie. He would always have DJs playing on the sound system every weekend, and it piqued my interest into the craft,” said the Ardenne High, Hillel Academy, and The Brit School alum.
While sharing he takes inspiration from almost everyone around him, he particularly looks up to Major Lazer, Deejay Puffy and Black Coffee.
He has played at I Love Soca, Soca + Festival, Dream Weekend, BRT Weekend, and Best Weekend Ever. From a more cultural perspective, he has also done Chug It, which is a staple in the Jamaican event industry. He completed a Canadian Tour in July 2024 with DJ Tyler, where they headlined four events.
With all the accolades under his belt, there is one that is dearest to his heart.
“My biggest accomplishment to date would definitely have to be the release of my most popular piece of work to this day, The WrldWxde Mixtape. We actually hosted a launch party in Jamaica which exceeded expectations. The turnout and support was overwhelming and I’m super proud of how it went,” Kryptic Live said.
He also had a few words for the aspiring disc jockeys.
“Stay focused, study the business, practise, and the most important, be yourself,” he charged.
