Jermie Lynch returns to score brace in Portmore United JPL win
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Former Reggae Boy Jermie Lynch had an explosive return to the Jamaica Premier League after more than a year out with injury when he scored a brace to lead Portmore United to a 3-0 win over Chapelton Maroons in their second round game played at the Anthony Spaulding Complex on Wednesday.
Romeo Guthrie gave Portmore United the lead in the 38th minute and Lynch, who replaced Tarick Ximines in the 59th minute, scored in the 79th and 84th minutes to secure the win.
Portmore United won their third straight match to catapult into fourth place on 33 points, on goal-difference over Waterhouse, who edged Harbour View 1-0 to be in fifth place, while Vere United and Dunbeholden United ended 1-1.
Defending champions Cavalier FC, who will play leaders Mt Pleasant FA on Thursday, slipped to six place in the points standing on 32 points.
Waterhouse FC won back-to-back games, getting by Harbour View, thanks to a 13th minute penalty strike from Andre Fletcher who was scoring his eighth goal of the season.
Vere United moved up to 10th place in the tables after sharing points with Dunbeholden FC at Dunbeholden Sports Complex.
Michael Graham scored for Vere United in the seventh minute but Dean Andre Thomas drew Dunbeholden level with a 21st minute goal.
