Carnegie Foundation donates medical supplies to Mandeville Regional Hospital
MANCHESTER, Jamaica- The Mandeville Regional Hospital recently received several medical supplies to boost its delivery of patient care.
The items were donated by the Carnegie Foundation for Cancer Research, a non-profit organisation registered with the Government’s regulatory body.
The items included were wheelchairs, scrubs, protective head and foot coverings, oxygen carts, crutches, a paediatric bassinet, an instrument tray, IV stands and a microscope.
CEO of the hospital Alwyn Miller, who accepted the donation, thanked the foundation for its continued partnership with Southern Regional Health Authority and indicated that these items are useful in various areas across the hospital.
The microscope was targeted to the Haematology/Oncology Unit of the hospital as it seeks to serve the growing cancer population in the central region.
Dr Jamie-Lee Foote, haematologist/medical oncologist at the Mandeville Regional Hospital and director of the Oncology Unit, noted that the donation of the microscope will assist in the assessment of the increasing number of patients who attend the Unit for evaluation and treatment services.
Individuals wishing to assist the Carnegie Foundation in its charitable efforts and cancer research activities can make a tax-deductible donation to the Carnegie Foundation account at National Commercial Bank (NCB) a/c 54162837.
