Peaches Adaba’s Sidem enters New York Reggae chart

St Thomas-based singjay Peaches Adaba makes her debut on the New York Reggae chart with her latest single Sidem, entering at #30.

The song is a tribute to entertainer Vybz Kartel’s fiancée Sidem.

“The idea for Sidem came about when I saw that she was facing backlash from people on social media, saying she’s no good for Vybz Kartel or that she’s a spy. I wanted to be the voice for Sidem at that moment because she’s a quiet, non-confrontational, and simple person,” Peaches Adaba explained.

Prior to the release of Sidem, Peaches Adaba gained traction on radio with Bad For You.

On Valentine’s Day, her new single Reminisce is scheduled for release. It is the first single from her forthcoming EP, which is due for release in March.

Still on the New York reggae chart, Love Doctor by Shuga remains at #1 for a second week, while Be Your Friend by Ghost darts from #7 to #4.

In the meantime, Party Anthem by Worl-A-Girl steps up from #9 to #6, while Praise You by Terry Linen (27) and Golden Touch (29) by Glen Washington are new entries.

Over on the South Florida Reggae chart, Lead Us Not Into Temptation by Ernie Smith opens at #23, while
Let Go by Tony Anthony arrives at #23.

I’m Thankful by Ambelique improves from #6 to #3, while It’s Showtime by Tarrus Riley eases from #12 to #10.

How Long by Blk Orchid takes over the #1 spot on the Rebel Vibez Top Ten Canadian Reggae chart, with
I am the One by 6iixGal moving into the #2 spot.

Winning by Omega Mighty is at #3, Karma by SkyStar holds at #4, and Your Eyes and Mine by Mirian Katrib remains at #5.

Feel the Flow by The Pub Chronicles debuts at #10.

Moving on now to the Billboard Rhythmic Top 40 Airplay chart, Akon’s Beautiful Day backtracks from #7 to #8. The song peaked at #5 and has been on the chart for 17 weeks.

Meanwhile, Close by Skip Marley remains at #17 in its 13th week, and his cousin YG Marley is featured on the track Treasure and Gold by Busta Rhymes, which is new at #39.

A few months ago, YG Marley’s collaboration Awuke with Davido peaked at #31 on the chart.

The big news on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart is Vybz Kartel’s Viking: 10 Year Anniversary – Deluxe album, which makes its entry at #10. The deluxe edition of his 2015 album arrives with seven new tracks, including a collaboration with Ishawna titled Porn Flick.

This gives Kartel his 11th entry on the Billboard reggae table. His previous entries were:

1) King of the Dancehall which peaked at #2 in July 2016

2) Viking (Vybz is King), which peaked at #33 in March 2015

3) Kingston Story (Deluxe) – rose to #12 in September 2012

4) Kingston Story – #7 in July 2011

5) Vybz Kartel Roots & Culture: The Voice of the Jamaican Ghetto – #6 in July 2013

6) Kartel Forever (Trilogy) – #11 in October 2013

7) Reggae Love Songs and Other Things – #7 in June 2014

8) Of Dons & Divas – #6 in July 2020

9) Born Fi Dis (Prelude) – #9 in August 2021

10) First Week Out – #8 in August 2024

Elsewhere, Bob Marley and the Wailers continue their dominance at #1 for 265 non-consecutive weeks with Legend. Best of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection is firm at #2. The Trinity by Sean Paul re-enters at #3 and World on Fire by Stick Figure is at #4.

Greatest Hits by UB40 is #5, Dutty Rock by Sean Paul re-enters at #6, while Stick Figure occupies #s 7 and 8 with Wisdom and Set in Stone.

Exodus by Bob Marley and the Wailers dips one place down to #10.
