Denyque puts out twist to Tell Me

Jamaican singer and producer Denyque has put a unique and contemporary twist on the classic hit Tell Me by Groove Theory.

The project — released on February 14 — was produced by KraiGGi BaDArt for BaDArT Muzic.

“My new song is actually a cover of a very popular, groundbreaking track. It’s actually one of my favourite 90s songs, ever. It has a modern flair. This song, I’m always singing or humming it,” Denyque told the
Jamaica Observer, adding that it was her first time working with Kraiggi on a production level.

The artiste further said that she anticipates that the project will evoke positive emotions in listeners and looks for it to do well on the music scene.

“My hopes for the song are to remind people of the original feeling they felt when they heard the original. I want people to remember this song. For R&B, I don’t think it’s as prolific as it once was, and I want that to come back, because R&B was always about love and good energy and supporting that. I want people to go back to that place… I want it to do great things and just make a mark that I know it can,” Denyque reasoned.

Denyque also teamed up with dancehall artiste Charly Black on the track Like Glu, which also premièred on February 14. It was produced by her Levels To Life Production and E.T. Tribe Entertainment.

Denyque will be dropping her first album, titled Go, on June 6 this year.

In the meantime, she had a few words of encouragement for her supporters.

“Just run up the music and continue to support your favourite artiste. Be a good person, spread genuine love, and be you — because everyone else is taken,” she said.
