Water Lane in downtown Kingston came alive with art and music on Sunday, February 23 as Kingston Creative hosted the 2025 Artwalk Festival, titled Riddim and Roots. The event was the launch pad for the ‘Adopt A Block’ initiative, a crowdfunding venture to transform downtown Kingston into a world-class art district. Art and music lovers converged on Water Lane, exploring the murals and pieces from the over 60 artisans and artists. They were later treated to stirring performances from reggae artistes Tweeps Beat drumming band, Christopher Ellis, and Jesse Royal.

It was a fitting way to commemorate Kingston Creative’s eighth anniversary, which has Executive Director Andrea Dempster Chung optimistic about downtown Kingston’s future as a premier arts district.

“We have made visible strides in revitalising downtown Kingston, and Water Lane itself has evolved into a multiple award-winning, vibrant hub for murals, creative expression, and a destination for cultural tourism,” Dempster Chung said. “Today, we call on all well-thinking businesses, organisations, and individuals to step up and become a part of this positive change happening in our city and country.”
