Rocketship acquires Reliable Courier
The acquisition is anticipated to strengthen Rocketship's logistics network and expand its delivery footprint.

Rocketship acquires Reliable Courier

LOGISTICS company Rocketship Courier Services Limited has acquired Reliable Courier Jamaica as it seeks to strengthen its logistics network and improve service delivery across the island.

“This acquisition will enhance our delivery operations as it plans to leverage Reliable’s delivery service to get your packages directly to your door,” Rocketship said in a statement to customers on Monday.

Reliable Courier operates locations in Kingston, Portmore, May Pen, and Old Harbour, which will add to Rocketship’s six existing locations, four in Kingston — Village Plaza, The Waterloo, Orchid Village Plaza, and Marketplace — one in Portmore at Hungway Shopping Mall, and one in Montego Bay at Barnett Business Centre, thereby expanding Rocketship’s footprint across Jamaica. As part of the acquisition, Rocketship and Reliable will now operate from shared warehouses in Miami and Jamaica, a move aimed at improving package handling and processing times. Additionally, Reliable Courier’s customers will benefit from a newly upgraded portal featuring a more modern and intuitive design, along with real-time alerts for timely package updates.

“We are excited about this new chapter and expect that the Reliable business will be a meaningful contributor to future growth,” the company stated. “As always, we remain committed to delivering faster, more reliable service for you.”

Despite the expansion, efforts to obtain a comment from Reliable Courier were unsuccessful as calls to the company went unanswered. Rocketship has also yet to indicate when it will respond to questions about the transaction. Barita Investments, which served as Rocketship’s broker, facilitated the transaction, with funds being disbursed in September 2024.

While the official announcement was made recently, signs of the acquisition were evident earlier as Reliable Courier had been actively recruiting employees since August 2024, based on job advertisements posted on its social media platforms. Founded in 2019, Rocketship has quickly grown, providing customers with same-day shipping services. Reliable Courier, also established in 2019, has similarly expanded within Jamaica’s logistics industry. Orane Edwards, founder and CEO of Rocketship, previously stated that the company was seeking capital to support future expansion plans, following the signing of its broker agreement last year.

“Over the next three to five years we aim to achieve some strategic objectives such as branch network, expanding our network, launching new products and services, and generally strengthening our logistics pipeline,” he said in a video posted to Barita Investment’s social media pages.
