Performing at Mama Africa Fest in his native St Thomas last month whetted roots singer Prince Theo’s appetite for more shows in Jamaica. He gets another opportunity on March 25 with JA Style, which takes place in Kingston.

That event is promoted by Natty King, another St Thomas native best known for the 2003 hit song, No Guns To Town. Although Prince Theo has appeared on major events like Rototom Sunsplash in Spain, nothing compares to the Jamaican stage.

“Jamaica is my home and as the saying goes, ‘yuh affi dance a yaad before yuh dance abroad’. It’s also a great feeling performing for your people and seeing them receptive of your talent,” he said.

Prince Theo is from the town of Bath in St Thomas. He started recording music in 2000, the year his first song, Jailhouse, was released by Jane Linx Records out of the United Kingdom.

He later recorded songs like Gimme The Weed for producer Lloyd “King Jammy” James, as well as Can’t Forget The Times and Giving You All, both produced by Morgan Heritage.

Set The Captives Free, Prince Theo’s only album, was produced by Trinity Productions out of Switzerland. His EP, So Splendid, was done for New York-based Reggae Vibes Productions.

He is currently working on his second album with Reggae Vibes Productions.
