Best Beauty Secret? SUNSCREEN!

One common denominator in suggested skincare routines — whether from certified dermatologists or
TikTok ‘beauty experts’ — is the use of sunscreen! And contrary to popular belief, it isn’t just for beach days but rather a daily essential for everyone, including those with skin of colour.

The challenge, however, is that many suncreens targeted for use on the face tend to leave an undesirable white cast, making it challenging to use. Luckily, the beauty industry worldwide has caught up, and The Rock is not far behind.

After lots of trial and error with brands on the market, Her Secret Limited founder Shannel Foote created her own. “I developed this sunscreen to address my concerns associated with chemical sunscreens currently in the market, particularly their potential to disrupt hormonal balance,” Foote tells Tuesday Style Beauty (TSB). Foote explains that while physical (aka mineral) sunscreens are an alternative, she’s not a fan because they usually leave a white cast on the skin. Conversely, she says, “Ingredients like oxybenzone and octinoxate, frequently found in conventional chemical sunscreens, have been linked to endocrine disruption, raising health concerns. To mitigate these risks, I explored, researched and incorporated modern, safer UV filters that offer effective sun protection with a reduced toxicity profile”.

And so, the Glow Getter Sunscreen Hybrid Sun Sunscreen was born! And according to Instagram and TikTok reviews, the skincare girlies are loving the 3-in-1 SPF 50 moisturising formula which uses key ingredients niacinamide and vitamin C to fight dullness and pigmentation, while boosting collagen, and hyaluronic acid to refresh the skin. Foote says the product simplifies skincare, without sacrificing efficacy, and is perfect for those who struggle with maintaining lengthy skin care routines.
