KINGSTON, Jamaica — Police are urging patrons to adhere to strict security measures at the Grand Slam Track meet at the National Stadium beginning Friday and ending Sunday, April 6.

In a public advisory, the police outlined several restrictions on items that will not be allowed inside the venue. Prohibited items include firearms, explosives, knives, large igloos, glass bottles, large umbrellas and scissors or any other item that can be used to cause serious harm or injury.

The public is also advised that no parking will be allowed at the National Stadium except for the following group of persons who will park at the appointed locations:

• VIPs — Statue Road;
• Staff — Open area to the right of the Nannyville entrance;
• Media — Well area; and
• Shuttle — E10.

Shuttle parks have been established at Jamaica College and National Heroes Circle.

The police said motorists travelling along Mountain View Avenue and Arthur Wint Drive may experience disruptions in normal traffic flow before, during and after the event.

Traffic personnel will be deployed along the roadways and members of the public are being advised to follow their instructions.
