Dawkins wins third straight triple jump title at Penns
St Jago High’s Jade Ann Dawkins etched her name into Penn Relays history on Friday at Franklin Field in Philadelphia when she became only the second athlete to win a third straight high school girls triple jump title.
She produced 13.18m (-0.m/s), the second longest jump in the history of the event.
Dawkins, who also won a third straight triple jump title at Jamaica’s boys and girls athletic championships, joins former Vere Technical jumper Kimberly Williams who won from 2005-2007 and set the meet record 15.36m in her final year.
Hydel High’s Sabrina Atkinson, the Carifta Under-20 girls silver medalist, was second with 12.51m (-0.6m/s) and Destini Smith of Souderton, Pennsylvania was third.
Holmwood Technical’s Mikayla Longmore finished fifth with 12.21m (-0.1m/s).
Meanwhile, top ranked Chloe Palmer of St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) finished second in the long jump with 6.07m (-0.9m/s), moving up from fourth place last year.
St Catherine High’s Rohanna Sudlow repeated her third place finish with 5.88m (-0.2m/s) and Edwin Allen High’s Deijanae Bruce was fourth with 5.82m (-0.3m/s).
Lilly Ver Beek of James River, Virginia won with 6.07m (-2.3m/s) on her final jump, moving from third to the top spot.
