Cricket Cave opens indoor cricket facility at Sabina Park
Cricket in Jamaica has taken a monumental leap forward with the grand opening of Cricket Cave’s state-of-the-art indoor cricket centre at the historic Sabina Park in Kingston.
Founded by entrepreneurs Atishai Mansingh and David Henriques in partnership with the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA), the facility promises to revolutionise player development and fan engagement in the sport.
The new indoor facility, the first of its kind in Jamaica to operate under lights, will provide year-round training opportunities for national teams while also serving as a hub for cricket enthusiasts.
From 8:00 am to 12:00 pm daily, the facility will be reserved for JCA national teams for men, women, and youth, offering them a world-class space to hone their skills.
After noon, the nets, bowling machines, and equipment will be available for public rental until 11:00 pm, making it a near 24/7 cricket facility.
Beyond training, Cricket Cave is designed to be a social hot spot, featuring a lounge area where fans and players can relax and “lyme” in a cricket-themed environment.
Mansingh emphasised that the vision extends beyond just practice.
“This is the launch of the growth and development of cricket in Jamaica. We are here to show people that cricket can be fun, that we are a place to come and learn, and that the place to be is the Cricket Cave,” he said.
Adding to the excitement, Mansingh announced plans to launch a Cricket Academy in June, further solidifying the facility’s role in nurturing the next generation of West Indies stars.
Former West Indies Captain James “Jimmy” Adams, who was on hand at the opening on Wednesday, hailed the facility as a critical step forward for Jamaican cricket.
“This centre will go a long way in helping to prepare our national teams and unearth new talent. Having a dedicated indoor space with modern technology ensures our players can train at the highest level, regardless of weather conditions,” said Adams
