Three teams chase one semi-final spot in JFF Championship

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Fireworks are expected today as three teams, separated by two points, will be chasing one remaining semi-final spot as the first round of the Jamaica Football Federation Championship comes to a close.

Lime Hall FC and Spanish Town Police, who will meet Royal Lakes and Tru Juice FC, are hoping to join Zone A winners Meadforest FC, who secured their place on Wednesday.

Both places in Zone B were secured earlier with Falmouth United finishing ahead of Treasure Beach.

Today will be Lime Hall FC’s second chance to book their place after they were beaten at home on Wednesday by Meadforest FC, who secured the top spot with 28 points.

Lime Hall are on 24 points, one more than Spanish Town Police, who have been on a tear and are unbeaten in their last eight games, during which they amassed 20 of their 23 points.

It will be a must-win game for the teams that drew 1-1 in the first round; if they share the points again, it would leave the door open for Tru Juice FC, who are on 22 points and would need a big win over out-of-contention Progressive FC in their game at Dinthill Technical.

Tru Juice FC’s only loss in their last eight games was away to Meadforest FC, and they will be pushing from the start.

Games today – 3:30pm
Baptist Alliance vs Portlanders FC – York Sports Complex
Tru Juice vs Progressive FC – Dinthill Technical
Meadforest FC vs Grays Inn SC – Bell/Chung Oval
Spanish Town Police vs Lime Hall FC – Royal Lakes Sports Complex
Treasure Beach vs Petersfield FC – Breds Sports Complex
Reno FC vs St Bess United – Llandilo Sports Complex
Falmouth United vs Mt Pleasant FA Juniors – Elleston Wakeland Sports Complex
