Brother of St Mary’s most wanted arrested for alleged lottery scamming
ST MARY, Jamaica — The brother of a man who is said to be St Mary’s most wanted was arrested on Wednesday during a police operation in Annotto Bay and charged with lottery scamming along with two other men.
He has been identified as Gavin Adams of Fort Stewart, Enfield in St Mary.
His brother, Gaveen “Hally” Adams, is wanted for a 2024 murder.
Reports are that the police, acting on information, went to a house occupied by the three men, where they found identity information linked to lottery scamming. The other two men arrested are 39-year-old Neil Nelson, a higgler of Crab Hall, Annotto Bay and 36-year-old Ricardo Williams, a mechanic of Portmore, St Catherine.
Commanding officer for St Mary, Acting Superintendent Anthony Wallace, who led the operation along with senior divisional and specialised personnel, said these operations are to target gang members, seize illegal weapons and reassure abiding citizens.
“These criminals are not just hiding in plain sight, they are actively engaged in scamming, contract killings, robberies and gun running. We will continue to root them out. The arrest of Gavin Adams is a warning to those facilitating or participating in organised crime,” Wallace said.
