Major plans for Aidonia’s 20th anniversary concert
Fans of dancehall artiste Aidonia can expect a top-quality production at his 20th anniversary show today, according to promoter and Production Manager Romeich Major.
The businessman, through his brand’s Romeich Entertainment and Major Marketing, are among the sponsors for the event.
“Preparation has been intense but exciting. Our team has been working around the clock to ensure everything runs smoothly, from production to promotion to artiste coordination. At Romeich Entertainment, we pride ourselves on delivering high-quality events, and this one is no exception. Every detail has been carefully planned to give the audience an unforgettable experience as we celebrate a milestone of one of the greatest in dancehall,” Major told the Jamaica Observer.
Set for May 10 at Sabina Park in Kingston, the anniversary showcase will feature the headliner alongside Ding Dong, Bounty Killer, Capleton, Skeng, Valiant, Di Genius, RajahWild, and Kraff.
In the meantime, Major explained that his team’s commitment to be a part of the occasion coincides with their support of dancehall culture.
“It was important for us to be a part of this celebration because we believe in supporting and showcasing Jamaican talent, especially when it involves someone as influential as Aidonia. He’s played a huge role in shaping the dancehall landscape for two decades and celebrating his journey is also a celebration of the culture. Romeich Entertainment has always stood for excellence and unity in the industry, and this event aligns perfectly with our values,” he said.
Adding that he is looking forward to the crowd’s energy when each performer touches the stage, Major is encouraging everyone to attend for a night of quality entertainment. Major further offered praise for Aidonia’s (given name Sheldon Lawrence) transformation over the years.
“There are so many great moments, but one that stands out is watching him evolve as an artiste while staying true to his roots. Over the years, I’ve loved seeing the crowd sing every word to his set, that’s so powerful. Seeing his global impact in real time reminds me just how influential he is. Aidonia’s dedication and passion for the music are unmatched,” Major said.
Aidonia emerged on the dancehall music scene in the early 2000s. Among his chart-topping hits are Run Road, Fi Di Jockey, Yeah Yeah, Tip Pon Yuh Toe, Breeze, and Banga. His latest album, Occupied Mind, was released in 2023.
