St Elizabeth Police Division toasts moms
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The St Elizabeth Police Division honoured over 70 mothers at a Mother’s Day event, hosted by Superintendent Coleridge Minto, head of the St Elizabeth Police Division.
The function took place at the newly opened Lacovia Police Station in the parish, on Sunday.
Members of the division, including ancillary staff, expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the thoughtful gesture and warmly welcomed the initiative.
The occasion served as a meaningful opportunity to recognise the dedication, resilience, and sacrifices of the women who serve both as police officers and as mothers.
Superintendent Minto delivered an inspiring message, stating “Today, we celebrate and honour the extraordinary strength, dedication, and sacrifices of our mothers who serve as police officers. Your unwavering commitment to protecting and serving your communities, while also fulfilling the vital role of motherhood, is truly commendable”.
“Your resilience, courage, and compassion are some of the defining qualities that make you exceptional. Juggling the responsibilities of policing with the demands of family life is no small feat, and your ability to do so with grace and determination is nothing short of inspiring,” added Minto.
Touching on the event’s aim Minto stated that it was “to acknowledge your hard work and the sacrifices you make daily, often putting others’ needs before your own. Your commitment sets a powerful example for your colleagues and your community”.
“Thank you for your selfless service, your dedication to duty, and the love and care you give to your families and communities every day. Your efforts do not go unnoticed, and today we celebrate you,” he stated.
He further emphasised the importance of recognising and supporting women in law enforcement, noting that their contributions greatly enhance the effectiveness and compassion of service delivery.
“Wishing all the mothers a joyful, blessed, and well-deserved Mother’s Day — your work, strength, and love are deeply appreciated and celebrated more than words can express,” Minto stressed.
There were many prizes, but the main prize went Algo Clarke, who an office attendant at the Nain Police Station. She won a 55-inch Smart TV.
District Constable Jean Smith, a member of the JCF for 39 years, who has served in St Elizabeth for the entire duration, expressed gratitude for the initiative.
According to her, “this was the first time I have ever seen anything like this, and to be treated by any superintendent”.
