McConnell delivers consecutive podium finishes in RallyX Latvia
JAMAICAN rallycross sensation Fraser McConnell delivered another standout performance on the European stage with back-to-back podium finishes in rounds five and six of the RallyX in Riga, Latvia, last weekend.
McConnell secured second place in the FC2 category on Friday, followed by a third-place finish on Saturday to continue his consistent run in the 2025 RallyX season. This marks his third-consecutive double-podium weekend, after strong performances in Portugal and the Netherlands. Notably, the weekend also marked the first time a Jamaican has competed in RallyX in Latvia, a Baltic nation with a rich motorsports tradition.
Fraser is competing in the FC2 class — a new single-spec, four-wheel-drive (4WD), turbocharged rallycross division designed to offer a more accessible alternative to traditional Supercars. McConnell is driving a prototype FC2 car, helping to test and refine its performance throughout the season.
“Fraser is giving us great feedback and is pushing the FC2 to its absolute limit,” said Andreas Eriksson, owner of the FC2 project. “He’s working closely with our engineers, and we plan to implement key improvements ahead of the next round in Finland on June 14–15.”
McConnell said he was pleased with the accomplishment in Latvia.
“This weekend was a big step forward for us,” he said. “To come to a new country, compete on a technical track like Riga, and walk away with two trophies — it means the team’s hard work is paying off. I’m proud to keep flying the Jamaican flag on these stages,” McConnell continued.
So far this season McConnell has scored podium finishes in Portugal, the Netherlands, and now Latvia — delivering top three results across both the FC2 and Open 4WD Pro classes. His consistent performance and presence on the podium have made him a standout in the 2025 RallyX championship. While official standings are yet to be confirmed, McConnell remains firmly in contention in both categories.
