Michail Antonio could make sensational return from injury at Unity Cup – McClaren
West Ham forward Michail Antonio is planning to make an extraordinary return to the Reggae Boyz in the coming weeks following his horrific car crash last year.
The 35-year-old has stepped up recovery over the last few months after undergoing surgery following a leg fracture which occurred during the near fatal car crash in Essex, England in December.
Since his release from hospital last New Year’s Eve, Antonio pledged that he would return to playing despite reports of being ruled out for a year.
However, Reggae Boyz head coach Steve McClaren says there’s a possibility that Antonio could be involved in the Unity Cup in London starting next Tuesday as well as the Concacaf Gold Cup in the USA next month.
Antonio, who has made 21 appearances for Jamaica, scoring five goals, has been named in McClaren’s 60 man Gold Cup provisional squad with the final squad to be confirmed on June 4.
His last game for Jamaica was last October at the National Stadium in a goalless draw against Honduras in the Concacaf Nations League.
