Farmer arrested for alleged possession of ganja valued at $6m
PORT MARIA, ST Mary – A St Mary farmer was arrested and charged in relation to alleged possession of over 408 pounds of ganja with a street value of more than $6 million.
The farmer is 28-year-old Ranneil Hoilett of a Three Hills address.
St Mary police report that around 5pm on Thursday, lawmen responded to an incident in the area when they saw Hoilett who aroused their suspicions. He was stopped and questioned and further investigations led them to a nearby house said to be used by Hoilett.
The report further stated that when the lawmen entered the premises they discovered multiple rooms within the house filled with ganja plants hanging from the ceiling and the wall. According to the police, the findings at the scene suggested an operation involving the drying and processing of the illegal substance.
Two motor vehicles were seized believed to be linked to the operation.
