Barnett Street police station sign damaged
ST JAMES, Jamaica — The recently installed sign at the Barnett Street police station in St James has been damaged.
According to reports, a stone was used to damage a section of the sign that now alerts citizens that a police station is located at 14 Barnett Street.
Reports suggest that the incident took place about 5:00 am on Thursday and was carried out by a mentally-ill man.
Station supervisor, Detective Sergeant Ricardo Clarke, said the damage is being assessed.
“We are having a look at the damage to determine the extent,” he told Observer Online.
He is, however, already looking at the next steps in addressing the issue.
“We will be working on getting an estimate to get the sign fixed,” he said.
The Barnett Street police station is one of many police stations across the island that have installed new signs that illuminate at nights with a new 3d design.
