PNP to stage protest against Dennis Chung’s FID appointment
The People’s National Party (PNP) will on Monday stage what it says will be a peaceful protest against the appointment of Dennis Chung as chief technical director of the Financial Investigations Division (FID).
“This demonstration forms part of the party’s ongoing call to protect democratic principles, restore public trust, and resist the politicisation of independent institutions. Jamaicans deserve better, and we must act now to safeguard the future of our democracy,” the PNP said in an advisory to the media.

The demonstration is set to take place at the National Heroes Circle in Kingston, starting at 8:30am.
In the advisory, the PNP noted that the FID is currently investigating Prime Minister Andrew Holness for illicit enrichment. Chung’s appointment, the party said, “raises serious concerns about conflict of interest, political interference, and the erosion of public trust in our anti-corruption institutions.”
At a press conference Thursday, PNP General Secretary Dr Dayton Campbell said the party was giving the Jamaica Labour Party Government 72 hours to rescind the appointment of Chung or risk “actions across the country”.
