Roadway to Meadowrest Memorial Gardens to be closed to vehicular traffic
KINGSTON, Jamaica—The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising members of the public that starting Monday, June 16, a section of Frazers Boulevard, which is the road that leads to Meadowrest Memorial Gardens in St Catherine, will be closed to vehicular traffic.
The agency says this closure is to facilitate the construction of a box culvert on Frazer Boulevard, in the vicinity of Rosewood Drive. The closure will be in effect for two months.
Manager of communication and customer services at the National Works Agency (NWA), Stephen Shaw, says that Frasers Boulevard is currently being rehabilitated at a cost of $112 million.
He says that the box culvert that is to be constructed is being done as part of the final stages of the project, which has been underway since March.
During the period of closure, the detour route for individuals travelling to Meadowrest Memorial Gardens will be via the Green Acres community.
Motorists travelling from the vicinity of Featherbed Lane will continue past Frazers Boulevard to the main entrance of the Green Acres community and turn right onto Century Boulevard, continue along Century Boulevard, then turn right onto Gerard Road. Continue along Gerard Road back to Frazers Boulevard.
The reverse will apply for motorists travelling from Meadowrest towards St John’s Road.
Motorists are being urged to exercise caution while travelling in the area during the period of works and to obey the instructions of posted warning signs.
