NWA urges caution along Yallahs main road amid repairs
ST THOMAS, Jamaica — The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists to exercise caution while travelling along the Yallahs main road in St Thomas amid ongoing repair works along the corridor.
Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw says that contractors working on the multi-billion dollar Southern Coastal Highway Improvement Project (SCHIP) will be doing repair work.
The work involves repaving and will be done on the near nine kilometres stretch from the Yallahs Bridge to Pamphret.
Shaw says that as part of the final work under this section of the corridor, valve boxes are being raised to ensure seamless manoeuvring by motorists. The boxes, once raised, will be above the road surface.
Motorists are therefore being advised to reduce speed along the road section and obey the posted warning signs.
The works are slated to be completed by mid-July.
