DPP Llewellyn lauds JCF for support over the years
ST JAMES, Jamaica — Director of Public Prosecution, Paula Llewellyn, has lauded the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) for its role in supporting the work of her office over the years.
She was speaking with Observer Online on the sidelines of the JCF’s Transformations Expo 2.0, which is being held at the Montego Bay Community College. The expo is also being run simultaneously in Kingston.
“I, from time to time, am asked to give presentations on a variety of legal topics like plea negotiations, gang prosecutions — I and some of my staff,” she said. “What a lot of Jamaicans don’t know is that in terms of how well we are doing in prosecutions of gang cases, the use of plea negotiations, digital evidence, Jamaica leads the way in the Caribbean.”
Llewellyn, who is set to demit office in September 2025 after leading the agency since 2008, said the work from the police, in tandem with her office, has made Jamaica an example in the region.
In light of that, she declared the work of the JCF as something that she has always been appreciative of.

“I’ve always greatly valued the JCF as stakeholder partners in the administration of justice, and I am so very pleased to see the strides that they have been making and the wonderful positive impact that they are having on the reduction of crime in Jamaica,” Llewellyn declared.
Llewellyn was on the western end of the island for matters regarding her office when she decided to pop in at the expo, where she was awed by the displays.
“I wish them all the very best and I look forward to both here and in Kingston to see the expo,” she stated.
The JCF team brought a wide variety of equipment and services that they put on show in Montego Bay and Kingston.
Part of the display included a demonstration incorporating both sites of the expo using technology to link the operations.

The event, which started on Thursday, will run until Sunday where patrons will get a closer look at how the JCF operates.
On Thursday and Friday, scores of students turned out to see the display, with some expressing plans to join the JCF.
