National Trials 2025: Boys’ 400m finalists decided
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Calabar High’s Keano Charles and Jamaica College’s Omary Robinson led the qualifiers for Sunday’s final of the Under-20 boys’ 400m after Friday morning’s semi-finals at the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) National Junior Championships at the National Stadium.
The junior athletes, Under-18 and Under – 20 are seeking to make the team to the North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) Under -18, which will be held in Nassau, Bahamas and the Pan-American Under- 20 to be held in Nicaragua in August.
Charles ran 47.68 seconds to lead the Under 20 qualifiers winning the first heat, while Robinson clocked 47.76 seconds to win the fourth and final heat.
Mona High Kevin Bliss was also under 48.00 seconds as he ran 47.92 seconds with Sawayne Kerr of St Elizabeth Technical ran 48.10 seconds.
Joshua Wint of William Knibb qualified for the final with 48.31 seconds followed by Cornwall College’s Mario Birch who ran 48.66 seconds.
Jason Pitter of Kingston College lowered his personal best to 47,72 seconds as he led the Under-18 section, just dipping under the 47.73 seconds he set earlier this year.
Nishawn Walker also ran 48.48 seconds with Tiandre Downer of Holmwood Technical running 49.19 seconds and Micha Willis of Calabar High running 49.95 seconds.
