Masicka dismisses Vybz Kartel ‘beef’ rumours

...dubs MC Nuffy 'wasteman' in IG live

KINGSTON, Jamaica — In a response shared with his fans a short while ago, dancehall front runner Masicka dispelled rumours that trouble was brewing between himself and newly minted King of the Dancehall, Vybz Kartel.

In a video footage now making the rounds on social media, Masicka encouraged fans to continue spreading unity as he reassured them that there is no bad blood between him and Kartel. Directly addressing MC Nuffy as the source of the rumours, Masicka dubbed the longstanding dancehall emcee a “waste man” as he accused him of twisting a moment of disagreement with show organisers into something more.

“Everybody a ask me a wah gwaan. Nothing at all nuh gwaan a Sumfest. A me and the organisers dem have a likkle jump off. A something weh always gwaan and so me just go out deh (on stage) in a dark mood,” he explained. “Big up Vybz Kartel, yuh hear dat? So some likkle frowsy mouth boy, Nuffy, weh a come and a chat chat up him mouth, yah waste man Nuffy.”

Masicka went on to make statements alluding to Nuffy as a “dancehall groupie”, stating that the emcee has to follow the lead of artistes for a living. The Tyrant deejay said unlike Nuffy, he has a stable career, one that continues to rise above expectations.

“Nuffy yah follow backa. Yuh cyah style man, mi rich from inna me 20s and still ah hold mi own.”

Masicka was responding to a rant by Nuffy following the conclusion of Festival Night One at Reggae Sumfest where he declared his appearance may be his last at the event. Nuffy labeled Masicka as “badmind” as he attempted to connect the artiste’s onstage comments with Vybz Kartel’s crowning moment. In that video, Nuffy also called out dancehall artiste Jashii who Masicka invited to the stage during his set. Nuffy used statements made by Jashii regarding crowns and kings to support his “Masicka badmind” theory.

In a specific response to the latter, Masicka said he didn’t even hear Jashii’s comments. Masicka then went on to say that even if Jashii made comments that seemed negative, he was perhaps “under a vibes”.

“Jashii under him vibes and say wah him say bro. A inna di morning me all hear wah Jashii say and we cyah kill the yute because the dawg under a vibe.”
