Thanksgiving service for Mike McCallum to held at Holy Trinity Cathedral next Saturday

KINGSTON, Jamaica— The body of Jamaican boxing great Mike McCallum arrived in the island Friday ahead of next Saturday’s Thanksgiving Service in Kingston.

Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, the Honourable Olivia Grange announced on Friday that the service will be held at Holy Trinity Cathedral at North Street beginning at 11:00 am.

Members of the public may view the body at the church beginning at 10:00 am.

McCallum, who was Jamaica’s greatest boxer, won world titles in three weight classes — light middleweight, middleweight and light heavyweight.

He died on May 31 in Las Vegas at the age of 68.

Two similar services were held overseas.
