KINGSTON, Jamaica —In a keenly-contested football competition at the Age Quod Agis Sports Alumni Association (SAA) Reunion Showcase on September 6, Wolmer’s demonstrated their dominance, defeating a resilient Campion College team to clinch the coveted over-40 feature trophy for the fourth consecutive year.

The match was a fitting conclusion to a day of spirited competition and camaraderie and formed part of the Age Quod Agis fundraising reunion weekend, which marked its 15th year.

Since its inception, the association has donated over $14 million directly to Wolmer’s – supporting nutrition programmes, sporting equipment, medical supplies, digital learning transformation, and facility enhancements. The highly-anticipated feature match was a spectacular affair, with both teams showcasing impressive skill and tactical discipline.

Wolmer’s, known for their quick, fluid passing game, found their rhythm early, pressing Campion’s defence. The breakthrough came in the second half when a well-worked play resulted in the winning goal from a blistering shot from 20 yards out by Nicholas Beckett, sending the Wolmer’s supporters into a frenzy.

While Campion fought valiantly, the Wolmer’s defence held firm, expertly managing the game’s final minutes to secure the victory and etch their name in the history of the showcase once again, this time with a 1-nil victory.

“Winning this trophy for the fourth year in a row is a reflection of the dedication and teamwork of our players,” said a beaming Damier Walker, Wolmer’s over-40 team captain, who praised the performance of his opponents.

“Campion played a brilliant game, and they pushed us to our limits. This tournament is about more than just football; it’s about reconnecting, supporting our schools, and showing the younger generation the importance of sportsmanship and camaraderie,” he added.

Khary Robinson, Campion over 40 team captain and executive chairman for Norbrook Equity Partners, also commended his team and the organisers of the reunion event, despite their loss. “While we would have preferred a win coming out of this close game, I am very proud of our team and the effort displayed,” he said.

“Despite missing a few key players to injuries, the Campion squad truly came together in the spirit of camaraderie and worked together to make for an exciting matchup.

“More importantly, this perennially well-organised event was uniquely special this year being played in Jamaica and being supported by various local stakeholders including sponsors, alumni, and current students. It gave us all a chance to enjoy a fun and exciting day of Campion pride,” said Robinson.

Wolmer’s will now hold the trophy until the next instalment of the showcase in Florida, United States, where they will undoubtedly be the team to beat as they defend their legacy.

The feature match was preceded by an exciting U-14 exhibition which highlighted the next generation of football talent, giving Wolmer’s a 2-nil win, and the new “over-50” 7 vs.7 match which was dominated by Campion in a 2-1 victory.

The Age Quod Agis Reunion Football Showcase, an annual event aimed at fostering community spirit and raising funds for development projects at the school, was a resounding success.

Organisers praised the passion and sportsmanship displayed by all participating teams and expressed gratitude to the sponsors and spectators who came out to support the event.

“This showcase proves that the rivalries we had in school are now bonds of friendship and community,” said Andre Gray, president of the Age Quod Agis Sports Alumni Association. “The level of play gets better every year, and we’re already looking forward to next year’s fundraising event.”
