Heavy rain brings flood and damage

Heavy flooding was reported in sections of the island on Friday as torrential rain pounded a number of parishes.

When the water receded, scores of residents were left to clear their homes of mud and debris and assess damage.

Here are some images.

A homeowner’s wall lies in ruins in the Trafalgar Park community of New Kingston on Saturday after roaring water from a nearby gully came full force, downing the structure on Friday.

Residents lay out pieces of clothing in the sun on Saturday after raging flood waters from the nearby Burger Gully in Mountain View, St Andrew, overflowed during heavy rain on Friday.
