Craigy T’s debut EP among Grammy considerations

Craigy T’s debut EP among Grammy considerations

Popular dancehall artiste Craig “Craigy T” Thompson is celebrating as his debut EP, Unload, is among the Grammy considerations in the Best Reggae Album category.

“It means everything to me. I’m a part of this year’s Grammy cycle conversation which means that my name and work have and will continue to appear in new areas of the industry,” Craigy T told Observer Online.

The entertainer released the body of work on November 29, 2024. It peaked at number three on the Reggae iTunes charts, and also catapulted the artiste’s listenership on Spotify, as well as tripled his YouTube subscribers as of early 2025.

He explained that intricate planning and preparation went into perfecting it.

“Wow! (It took) so much time, so much planning. This project was more than just a creative release for me. It was also experimental. I tested many marketing strategies, social media approaches and campaigns and new types of promotion tools. Putting the plan together was a two-year process. Execution was swift,” he said.

He released an accompanying music video for the track Onion shot by Prime Concepts at Ideas Evolution Studios earlier this year. The EP’s production credits are owed to DJ Frodo, as well as Edward Collins and Dean Mundy.

Adding that he remains optimistic, but is ultimately trusting in God’s plan where a nomination is concerned, Craigy T said that the elements to complete a solid body of work are subjective.

“Different strokes for different folks. It’s not a cookie-cutter or one-size-fits-all all thing. One key though, is working with people that match your energy,” he said.

The entertainer added: “We have a chance, we are growing, we are unstoppable. Everything is because of the belief and faith you placed in me and my work. I am forever thankful.”

In the meantime, there is another reason to celebrate after legendary dancehall group TOK (which he is a member of) was featured in Billboard’s September Reggae/Dancehall Fresh Picks of The Month for their track True Friends.

“The sky is the limit! TOK, and especially myself, have always been associated with quality work so now the various fruits of our labour are ripening for harvest. And harvest we shall. This is the time of plenty,” he continued.

According to Craigy T, other projects are in the works.

“Just signed off on a mix for a new record for a Brazilian producer today. Look out for various collab projects too. The kings are fully active,” he said.
