Gray could miss World Cup qualifier against Curacao

KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaica Observer has been reliably informed that Reggae Boyz winger Demarai Gray could miss Friday’s vital Concacaf World Cup qualifier against Curacao.

The Birmingham City winger picked up an injury during training on Tuesday at Sabina Park. The full extent of his injury is not yet known, but is seen as a doubt for the contest.

Gray missed September’s games against Bermuda and Trinidad and Tobago through injury.

It is further understood that Chelsea winger Dujuan “Whisper” Richards could be brought in as a replacement.

However, credible sources have downplayed that suggestion at this moment.

There are no other injury concerns at the moment, with only Kasey Palmer and Isaac Hayden set to miss the Curacao game due to suspension.

Jamaica, who lead the group with six points, play Curacao, on four points, at the Ergilio Hato Stadium on Friday at 6:00 pm.

Only the group winner will advance to next summer’s FIFA World Cup.
