Dolla and ICWI unveil loan-insurance package for taxi operators

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Dolla Financial Services Limited and the Insurance Company of the West Indies (ICWI) have introduced a combined loan and insurance package targeted at taxi operators and public passenger vehicle (PPV) owners in Jamaica.

The partnership bundles Dolla’s One N’ Ready auto loan product with ICWI’s motor insurance, offering financing of up to 95 per cent for new vehicle purchases and up to 70 per cent for pre-owned vehicle. Repayment terms extend up to 36 months, with fixed, affordable weekly insurance payments.

Additional benefits include free GPS tracking provided by Amber Connect, a guaranteed 12-hour loan approval timeframe, and direct access to ICWI’s claims and customer support services.

Thousands of Jamaicans depend on taxis and PPVs daily, and the financial stability and safety of the operators remain vital. However, many operators face challenges accessing affordable financing and comprehensive insurance.

CEO of Dolla Financial Services, Kenroy Kerr, said the initiative goes beyond a loan product to provide “protection, peace of mind, and a safer future on the road” for transport operators.

President of ICWI, Paul Lalor, said that embedding insurance within the loan offering aims to simplify compliance, improve road safety, and reduce the financial burdens on drivers.

The partnership aims to provide a safer and more convenient approach for Jamaica’s taxi operators and strengthen the reliability of the country’s public transport system.
