El Clasico looms: Real Madrid aims to halt Barcelona’s momentum

Serie A showdown as Napoli host Inter Milan in title-renewed battle

A blockbuster Serie A clash awaits fans in Italy on Sunday as giants Napoli and Inter Milan go head to head. Then on Sunday, the Spanish capital will host the fiery “El Clasico” as Real Madrid and bitter rivals Barcelona collide in another monstrous clash.

Event # 1 –SERIE A– Napoli vs Inter Milan– 11:00 am

A blockbuster clash will unfold at Diego Armando Stadium tomorrow, Saturday October 25, when defending champions Napoli and Inter Milan collide in an intriguing contest. Both these sides, along with Roma, are on 15 points — one point behind leaders AC Milan who sit atop the standing. Napoli started the defence of their title impressively but have dropped off the boil in recent weeks. Ahead of this vital clash they have lost two matches on the bounce — a massive 6-2 battering at the hands of PSV in the Champions League on Tuesday, and last weekend a 0-1 defeat against Torino. Indeed, those results make the game against Inter Milan a crucial one as they look to regain form and prevent their mini slump from turning into a full-blown crisis.

Meanwhile, the situation is much different for Inter Milan as they enter this game off the back of a dominant 4-0 win over Union Saint Gilloise in the Champions League in midweek, a win that kept them perfect with three wins from three in the Champions League. Inter Milan will arrive in Naples riding a wave of momentum and confidence as they possess the best attacking record in Serie A, scoring 18 goals in their seven matches played so far while conceding a mere two goals, including a 1-0 win over Roma last weekend. With that said, the Italian and European runners-up from last season enter this match having won their last four away matches in all competitions, and during this run they didn’t concede a single goal while scoring nine.

Key Stats

• Napoli– Napoli has scored 16 goals in the last 10 games and conceded 16 goals in the same period. Napoli has won nine of their last 10 home matches, losing the other one.

• Inter Milan – Inter Milan has scored 27 goals in their last 10 games and conceded just eight goals during this run.

• Both sides – Inter Milan is unbeaten against Napoli in their last five head-to-head meetings.

The betting tip: Inter Milan win.

Event # LaLiga– Real Madrid vs Barcelona– 10:30 am

The Spanish capital and the Bernabeu will be the centre of attention on Sunday when Real Madrid and Barcelona go head to head in “El Clasico”. Real Madrid currently lead the standing with 24 points, two ahead of Barcelona, and will be aiming to remain leaders after the game. Additionally, they will be looking for revenge against their rivals who defeated them 4-3 when both teams met earlier in the season.

With that said, Real Madrid enter this crucial match in impressive form, winning four of their last five overall matches and with their only loss during this run coming against their city rivals Atletico Madrid. More impressive for Real Madrid is that they have won their last nine matches in a row at home and four straight in LaLiga.

Meanwhile, Barcelona will arrive in Madrid with fond memories from their head-to-head meetings from last season when they won both games against Real Madrid (4-3 at home and 4-0 away). The Catalan giants will be confident of maintaining their recent dominance over their great rivals as they arrive in Madrid after a morale-boosting 6-1 win over Greek side Olympiacos in European action in midweek. Before that, they defeated Girona 2-1 but had suffered back-to-back losses against Sevilla and PSG. This proves their inconsistency away from home, which could be their downfall against a Real Madrid team that has been flawless at home recently. However, Barcelona’s recent El Clasico record makes for good reading and gives confidence, as they have won the last four meetings.

Key Stats

• Real Madrid– Real Madrid has won 13 of their last 14 overall matches and also 14 of the last 15 home matches.

• Barcelona –Barcelona has conceded a goal in each of the last six matches but has scored at least once in the last 52 matches.

• Both sides – Barcelona has won four of the last five meetings against Real Madrid, winning the last four home and away.

The betting tip: Barcelona win.
