Unicomer Group donates $75 million for Hurricane Melissa relief efforts
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Unicomer Group, operators of Courts and other retail brands in Jamaica, has announced a $75 million contribution to support national relief efforts and assist employees affected by Hurricane Melissa.
The company said the funds will be allocated to both government-led and community-based recovery initiatives, as well as direct aid for staff members impacted by the storm.
Managing Director of Unicomer Jamaica, Ann-Marie Waltets said the company is committed to helping Jamaicans rebuild.
“The Unicomer Group stands in solidarity with the people of Jamaica in this very difficult time. Through our Unicomer Jamaica office and our Courts brand, we will be working with the relevant entities and relief organizations to get help to those severely impacted by the hurricane,” she said.
Walters noted that Courts’ six-decade presence in Jamaica underscores the company’s deep connection to the island.
“Jamaica is not just a market for us; it is home to our team members, our customers, and our legacy. We are committed to restoring hope and stability for those impacted by this devastating natural disaster,” she added.
Caribbean Vice President and Managing Director of Unicomer Group, Feliz Siman also reaffirmed the company’s regional commitment stating, “Together, the Unicomer Group stands strong for Jamaica, because family means never facing challenges alone.”
