Reggae Boyz ratings vs T&T: High marks for Cephas, but 4 and 5s awarded after poor showing

Reggae Boyz ratings vs T&T: High marks for Cephas, but 4 and 5s awarded after poor showing

The Reggae Boyz had to settle for a 1-1 draw away to regional rivals Trinidad & Tobago in their Concacaf World Cup qualifier on Thursday, a result that sees them surrendering the group lead to Curacao ahead of their clash with the “Blue Stars” in Tuesday’s finale.

Renaldo Cephas put Jamaica ahead in the 53rd minute with a brilliant solo effort, but Kevin Molino drove a low effort into the back of the net in the 85th minute to level for T&T/

Observer Online took in the action. See how we rated the Boyz’ individual performances below.

Andre Blake – 6.5/10
Denied the Trinidadians five times but could do little about the goal.

Mason Holgate – 6.5/10
Decent performance. Limited Spicer’s creativity but contributed little attacking wise.

Richard King – N/A
Subbed off injured after 31 minutes so hard to judge him.

Ethan Pinnock – 7/10
May not get much credit but had some good defensive moments plus his long passing helped the team going forward.

Greg Leigh – 6.5/10
Dealt with situations well, no major issues with his effort

Isaac Hayden – 7 /10
Held the midfield well with four tackles, most in the match and six recoveries.

Bobby Reid – 4/10
Hard to say what he contributed during the game. Had the least amount of touches, offered little to nothing defensively and offensively. His number 6/8 role in the team should be questioned.

Jon Russell – 5.5/10
Didn’t provide much of a threat as the attacking midfielder.

Demarai Gray – 5.5/10
Didn’t look sharp at all in his return to the team. Don’t think he’s as effective as a right winger compared to his usual left.

Rumarn Burrell – 6/10
Played the pass that set up the goal but chased defenders the entire night, rather than the other way around.

Renaldo Cephas – 7.5/10
Man of the match. Took his goal very well, forced the issue on the left side but could have done better with certain situations.

Subs

Damion Lowe – 5.5/10
Hasn’t played club football in months and it showed. Didn’t look very sharp at all which led to some questionable positioning and decision making. Also didn’t help that he was thrown inside 35 minutes.

Dujuan Richards – 6/10
In just over 25 minutes, made more of an impact than Gray on that right side.

Tyreece Campbell – 6/10
Had a couple of decent moments down the left

Rico Henry and Karoy Anderson – 5/10
Brought on late to defend the lead but were unsuccessful.
