JPL leaders Montego Bay rally to earn draw with Harbour View
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Leaders Montego Bay United rallied to earn a 2-2 draw against relegation-threatened Harbour View FC in their Jamaica Premier League second round game at the Harbour View stadium on Sunday.
Montego Bay captain Lucas Lima Correa scored his first JPL double to help deny back-to-back wins for Harbour View, who were coming off a 1-0 ambush of Mount Pleasant FA on Sunday.
The league leaders played the final 34 minutes plus added time with 10 men after Kimani Arbounie was sent off in the 56th minute, but held on to become the first team to get to 50 points in the JPL this season.
Damion Binns scored a hat-trick for Dunbeholden FC who came from a goal down to beat Treasure Beach FC 4-2 in the other game played on Sunday.
It was the second time this season that Montego Bay and Harbour View were playing out a draw after their first round game played at Stadium East in December ended 4-4.
Trayvone Reid, who had scored the winner against Mount Pleasant FA, scored both goals for Harbour View on Sunday, giving them the lead in the 10th minute.
Correa, who had scored once before this season, in a 2-1 win over Dunbeholden, drew the visitors level in the 39th minute but Harbour View led 2-1 at half time when Reid scored his second goal in the 45th minute. The Brazilian came to the rescue of his team with a late goal, scoring a second equaliser in the 82nd minute.
At Dunbeholden, Treasure Beach took the lead in the third minute when Raheem Porter scored, but the home side rallied and took a 3-1 lead with Damion Binns equalising in the 40th minute and putting them ahead in time added at the end of the first half.
Stephen Barnett made the scores 3-1 in the 56th minute before Treasure Beach cut the deficit to one goal when Lajon Livingstone scored in the 85th minute.
Binns completed his hat trick when he scored in time added at the end of the second half.
