Waterhouse beat Spanish Town Police FC to move up to fifth in JPL
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Waterhouse Football Club (FC) beat last-placed Spanish Town Police Football Club (FC) 3-0 in their second round Jamaica Premier League (JPL) game played at Drewsland stadium on Monday to move up to fifth place in the standings.
The win extended Waterhouse’s unbeaten run to six games as they improved to 34 points, one more than defending champions Cavalier Soccer Club (SC), but nine points off the top four positions.
Omani Leacock scored just before the half time break to give the home team the lead but had to wait until late in the game for two second half substitutes to give them some cushion.
Shamarie Dallas, who went into the game in the 64th minute, doubled the advantage in the 76th minute, while Mario Simms got the third goal in the 90th minute.
In the first game of the double- header, Harbour View rallied from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw with Molynes United in a game where both teams had a man sent off.
Molynes United got off to a fast start and led 2-0 after 10 minutes with goals from Rolando Barrett in the sixth minute and Nicholas Nelson in the 10th minute.
Trayvone Reid halved the deficit when he scored his league-leading 14th goal in the 29th minute and Molynes were reduced to 10 men just before half time when Dhumar McLaughlin picked up his second yellow card of the game.
Rushane Thompson equalised for Harbour View in the 83rd minute but Reid, who has carried the team in scoring over the last month, was sent off after getting his second yellow in a 10-minute span.
