St Andrew man charged with murder
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A St Andrew man has been charged with the murder of 28-year-old Tristan Parkes of Donmair Close, Kingston.
Charged is 24-year-old Antonio Smith, otherwise known as “Rajay”, a labourer of the same community.
According to reports from the Constant Spring police, Parkes and Smith became involved in a dispute over a bath pan on Thursday, August 20. The dispute was reportedly settled by citizens, after which Smith left the area and allegedly returned with a knife from his home.
Police said another altercation then developed between the two men, during which Smith allegedly used the knife to stab Parkes in the chest.
Parkes was taken to hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead while receiving medical attention.
Smith later turned himself in to the police. He was subsequently arrested and charged following a caution statement and a question-and-answer interview.
His court date is being finalised.
